This is a list of popular suggestions for Fraxy. Go ahead and add suggestions (as long as they aren't too outrageous). :P
- Editor for the player's ship, like the bosses editor, but with weaker weapons, customise your ship!
- An option for the "BGCHANGE" command to load a background without the blend between them happening. Necessary for large scale ground battles.
- Accessible counters for shots fired, shots that hit something, and hit percentage. Useful for Tanker mode.
- More event options for the sliding move part: 16 pixels just isn't enough by itself.
- An option, like "SETPLAYER", to remove the player for a while. Useful for cutscenes.
- Enemy shield part (shooting it makes it lose HP and there should be two versions: circle and arc (the circle shield would encompass a circular region of X size depending on maybe the move/attack action?) (the arc shield only protects one side, some bosses have already implemented a workaround but this would use less parts and probably look cooler :P)
- A shots nullifier part. It tracks your shots, fires bolts at your shots and your shots dissapear in a poof!
- Multiplayer! Multiplayer! Multiplayer servers!
- Some New Plates and bricks (eg: a round plate about the size of an explosion tank)
- Adjustable player hitbox
- "Sizing Handles" on editor parts (eg: you can make a wing longer/shorter, fatter/thinner). And have gun fire adjust accordingly (bigger plasma ring gun shoots bigger rings, etc.)
- A new draw option. Like "shadow", but is above the player ship, other parts, and all weapons fire
- Health Bars. Gives a better idea of if you're causing any damage or not.
- some things from aL69's thoughts...
- a lightning weapon, like a faster homing laser, but less homing.
- a split-shot, like in the game contra, a shot that splits to three
- some sort of projectile gravity field
- an EMP weapon
- some sort of whip-like or bendy blade
- a missile that homes in better than homing laser but slower. if it did not hit the target after 5 seconds it will explode
- splash-damage the weapons like the grenade
- a weapon that does continuous damage when hit (kinda like he poison effect) maybe this is the job of the flamethrower
- a weapon that blurs the screen or distracts you when you are hit
- some sort of railgun (like a super fast bullet that has SUPERIOR range but shoots less)
- an option to speed-up/slow down things like the joints
- an option to "Merge"... *VOLTES-FIIIIIVVVEE!!!!!*
- hmm... some sort of object that when you touch it, you are stuck to it (but not dead) so maybe we can make "grappling" moves for the bosses.
- a draw option like shadow, but its in the normal color, you can't die when you touch it and when you go through it, it goes ABOVE you
- and maybe a gamplay type that you are contantly moving up and strafes left and right, like in raiden
- A mode similar to Free Play, but when you play it, you select several bosses in the order you wish to fight them.
- A new draw option similar to Shadow, but you can hit it.
- A weapon part that stuns you, but does no damage whatsoever.
- A minigun weapon for the player, which is similar to the bullet, but faster, and uses much more energy.
- A part that puts up a shield around another part on a boss.
- The ability to make friendly ships, that way you could have a few ships help you in battle (very useful for Try files).
- A laser weapon for your ship. 'Nuff said.
- A fully customizable player ship!
- Thoughts from Daijitsu:
- NEW SCREEN RESOLUTIONS / DYNAMIC RESIZING. 320x240 (or the same resolution zoomed in to 640x480) just doesn't cut it, especially when fighting a large enemy. Shooting in the general direction of incoming lasers isn't satisfying after spending hours making an epic boss.
- a color changer in-editor that allows for a user to change the color of individual pieces of an enemy, similar to how you can change the enemy shot/effect color.
- ability to jump in as a playable ship in the editor to test things out instead of having to go back and forth with the game, loading the boss from the middle of the list. I know there's the target that the enemy shoots at (which follows your mouse if you hold "T"), but there's no INTERACTION. Besides, how will I know if damage-related events are working if I can only test what happens if I blow the piece completely up?
- a more browser-oriented boss list- I have creations in different folders, but everything still shows up in one massive list. Being able to select which folder I want to browse would save lots of annoyance.
- the ability to import your own sprites from individual images, rather than having to add them or replace existing ones in the large sprite-sheet. Of course, this would mean an entire new system would have to be developed to edit what the piece does, along with it's hitbox and such. Forged I mentioned that, but keep the concept in mind.
- instead of simply shadowing pieces to place them behind scenery, I think it may be necessary to add another variable that determines the 'height' of the piece, just like with how the background works. That way the pieces will have a more 3-D feel, and will also be more easy to recognize as something you can pass over.
- adding to the above comment "a fully customizeable ship!", I think it would be interesting if when you start an event, (oh, just got an idea for a mode- read next idea for that), you are asked to choose your setup, and you can select from templates or manually use an in-game editor style system to choose your weapons and where they sit, which could affect not only your ship's speed (the more stuff the heavier you are), but change your hitbox. I think this may be a little too much for the current sized ship, but if we changed the screen resolution *nudge nudge* a larger ship sprite could be a definite harbor for this idea!
- an 'adventure mode' of some kind- like mentioned earlier, you can pre-determine a set of bosses for your own personal boss rush before starting, without the hassle of having to create a separate try game for every combination of bosses you want.
- using enemy weapons
- the option to 'unlock' weapons as you play, possibly by blowing the specific weapon up on a boss.
- Did I mention screen resolutions?
- PERSPECTIVE. It would be a bit hard to pull off, but I think that if we can get sprites (or at LEAST the background) to dynamically resize depending on position, we can end up with a great new set of opportunities for TRY games that involve moving forward and such.
- BOUNDING. Playing with custom backgrounds is nice, but unless you're using a tiling background there can be some ugly conversions between edges, especially with larger images when it attempts to transition from side to side or top to bottom and it ends up losing the picture, then blinking in all of a sudden. This idea is basically creating a border around your arena based on a parameter you give it (probably easier to do in a TRY file than constantly re-adjusting it in free play). This way, you don't go past the invisible 'wall', preventing you from leaving the edges of the picture. This could prove VERY useful for some try levels, depending on what's going on.
- Ability to select several (or all) of your background music and put them in a specific order for free play.
- a better editor that allows you to test the effects of events like for transforming bosses and more weapons and different ships you can choose from(different color/shape/size etc)
- Ability to control your creations
- Ability to pit one boss against another.
- Ability to steal bosses abilities for temporary weapons. These weapons would use ammunition.
- Two seperate bars for energy. One as in Health Energy, and one as in Weapon Energy. Perhaps you could gain health by destroying an enemy part and picking something up.
- Ability to choose a starting point for a boss, especially for maze/prison bosses.
- A new editor, to go along with the old one. It would be for more advanced creators, allowing them to change anything without needing to use events.
- MAP EDITOR! You know, building a stage the easy way. You get to choose the size of the map and what enemies go where. So, lets say you make a short, but LONG field. If you place your enemies right, it'll just be like Gradius! Yay! This option could go pretty well with try files.

and maybe they should make a "lightning" weapon... like a faster homing bullet but less homing.

@al69: Its usually not the idea to comment on peoples wishes. Ideas are ideas, wishes are wishes. They're neither good nor bad. Be creative :-)

Although, you did ask, so..... The EMP and blur/distraction weapon is already there. Can't remember what it's called but it has the radioactive symbol on it. Completely agree with the grenade splash damage. Its a grenade, not a firecracker! Hehe. The targetting weapon is also already there, though it creates a small damaging explosion rather than fire anything. I like the splitshot idea. That is all ;-)

Edit: Aahhh you're suggesting a emp/blur weapon that fires! My mistake, I was thinking of the box-part that already exists.

...good, good, but what we really need to do is figure out what all the Extra Param event triggers can do. the one sample enemy shows the end result, but it's hard to figure it out from that alone. if I am correct, then #1 changes the rate of oscilation of the speed, #2 sets the low speed, #3 sets the high speed, and #4 sets the curve of the attack. (#2 and #3 may be interchangable for some effects) lasers don't seem to be affected at all by extra parameters, but most of the other weapons should be adjustable with these parameters.

Well, I'm new to the community but old to the game, so I put out my ideas. I'm going to try to learn how to do these changes myself, but I think it's good to have others thinking on them too, right?

I fixed it, but next time... ugh.

@Daijitsu: Fan Art?! Thats a fantastic idea! However, what could you really draw? The player's ship is easily made 3D with a little imagination, but bosses in the image? Please do expand on your idea :-)

Well, that's the thing- a little imagination can work out. I think A70M1C's creations are neat, and have a real nice 3d feel to them. Maybe they'd be a good start. Oh, and I also have an epic idea for an animation... but that would take me forever. After watching A70M1C's fight with Osiris on youtube, I was a little inspired to do a flash animation to the song "Epileptic Crisis". it's been running in my head for days... search for an mp3 or something.

Seeing two bosses duke it out would be awesome, but they wouldn't really have any strategy, and things like Rolling Cores would just sorta bump into each other until one died. Of course, that could still be fun to watch. (BLACKHOLE VS BLACKHOLE GO)

@Aquamancia: that could be done with a series of GETINFO checks inside a Try. If the part with said attached weapon no longer exists (destroyed), then change the player weapon loadout. Pretty easy to do once the individual parts are identified properly and assigned to variables...

Didnt download a newest version and i don't know if there actually is. maybe the weapons i'd like in the game are already in:
A sniping weapon, like the Imperialist in Metroid Prime Hunters
A homing weapon which is slower then the Homing Laser, but more homing
Something like the effector thunder things which damages the player

These things can be created in the editor by using part parameter events.
