Important Note: Now that Fraxy has events, this info is obsolete. Use events instead of stacking weapons, it creates less lag and lets you use more parts.
Yes, Fraxy does have a great deal of Armament parts to offer in building your bosses and drones, but sometimes, you might ask yourself if there could be more weapons that you can use. The technical truth is no, but with a little bit of experimenting and fiddling around with a few parameters on parts, you can change that! This is where this tutorial comes in, teaching you some more advanced editing techniques to build "new" weapons.
Let's take this ship, the Crescent Ray Core for example...
...and then, we'll zoom into it a bit closer. Looks like a normal "Bullet-Small" type armament, right? Well, watch...
What... what the...?! I though a "Bullet-Small" part at Rank 1 only shot two, somewhat small, intermittent shots within about a second?! The truth about the part you saw is that it wasn't just one. It was many, layered on top of each other, with some time fiddling on some options, these "larger", not to mention deadlier, beams were created. Let's get started, shall we?
Let's put a normal "Bullet-Small" and my altered "Bullet-Small" side by side for a comparsion, both portrayed at Rank 1.
I repeat... Both of these guns are only on Rank 1, yet you can clearly see the difference here between the two. So here's what you have to do.
Go into your editor and build a "Bullet-Small" part, then copy/paste it and try to drag it exactly on top of the original, so it still looks like one visually. For this tutorial, let's layer four together on top of a "Tip" part. Your parts tree should have something that looks something similar to this in the Parts List window...
Ok, we have that done. Now let's see the results...
Your rays look slightly different, with a larger head. Congratulations, you basically just made a "Bullet-Small" that layers four bullets in one, meaning getting hit by one essentially means four times the damage! Yet... it still doesn't look like the longer beam to the right. All's that's left is a little more tweaking. Let's go down to the Parts Info window and find this value in the lower right...
THIS is your friend. Now, go back to your Parts List where the "Bullet-Small" parts are. For the first one, leave the "Starts Att frame" value at 0, meaning it will fire as normal. With the next one on the list, make the value -1. With the third, -2, and so on... The four "Bullet-Small" parts should go 0, -1, -2, -3. Once you set that up, give it another test run in the editor... If it all runs smoothly...
Sha-zam!! You now have the very same extremely rapid stream of rays! Go and have fun with this and see what kinds of custom weaponry you can make up. Putting some of these on your new creations can definitely add some extra challenge to them. All's what it takes is a little experimenting. One little tip that I suggest is, to keep these new weapons on hand, simply just make a core with your weapon loadout of choice attached, for quick and easy load-copy-paste action!
